Research Interests

My research and professional interests focus on (1) behavior interventions for promoting children’s development, health, and safety; (2) the early identification of children’s health problems and strategies for adapting environments and techniques to meet children’s special needs; (3) the analysis of factors influencing children’s nutrition and development of applied interventions for improvement; (4) health promotion and educational programs for children, parents, and early education teachers; (5) leadership development and advocacy; (6) the use of technology for instructional purposes.

Service and Professional Interests

I have, and currently, serve on a number of state and local advisory boards and professional organizations, including the Kansas Professional Development Initiative, Kansas Statewide Child Care and Early Education Advisory Committee, Early Childhood Higher Education Consortium, Kansas Early Childhood Continuing Education Units (CEU) State Advisory Council, Kansas Stakeholders Advisory Committee, and the Douglas County Child Development Association. My professional teaching interests include the theoretical and applied foundations of early education, parenting, leadership, and children’s health, safety, and nutrition.
