Montrose Wolf, 1935-2004
Mr. Wolf died Friday, March 19, 2004, at his home.
He was born May 29, 1935, in Houston, the son of Edwin Madison and Ruth deTurk
Wolf. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University
of Houston in 1959, and a master's degree and a doctorate, both in psychology,
from Arizona State University.
Mr. Wolf was a professor at the Kansas University
department of human development and family life from 1965 to 2000. He had been
a research assistant professor in the department of psychology at the University
of Washington from 1962 to 1964 and an assistant professor in the department
of psychology at the University of Arizona from 1964 to 1965. He also was a
visiting professor at the Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka and a senior
fellow at Boys Town Center for the Study of Youth Development in Boys Town,
Neb.
He was a member and fellow of the American Association for the Advancement
of Science and the American Psychological Assn., and a member of the Teaching-Family
Assn. He had been a member of the Society for the Experimental Analysis of
Behavior, a member and charter fellow of the American Psychological Society,
a member and clinical fellow of the Behavior and Research Society and a founding
member of the Society for Clinical and Preventative Psychology.
He participated
in community service with Achievement Place for Boys Inc., Governor's Task
Force on Domestic Violence and the Kansas Mental Health Research and Training
Center Professional Advisory Board.
He married Sandra Spiller on Oct. 24, 1959,
in Houston. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter,
Julie Planchon Wolf, Seattle; a son, Peter Madison, Lawrence; his stepmother,
Lila Wolf, Houston; a brother, Edwin Madison "Pete," Houston; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the department of human development and family
life through the KU Endowment Association, Hospice Care of Douglas County or
the charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
